anybody ever broken their collar bone. how severe and how long til you could climb again. how was the recovery process. i got doc's opinion, i'm just checkin for some first hand exp.

a friend of mine told me "people like us have no business on croch rockets" (cbr600)enough said.
i definately have a bump. the bump is like a little step up or down depending on which direction the, lets say, a small grasshopper was walking along the bone.
how long did you have to where the sling for?
injury 12/20ish
competition 3/21ish and 4/19ish
wonder if i'll make it.might have to judge this year?

good stuff todk, I used to be into the urban scene but I keep it all in the woods now, mainly crosscountry trails and downhill when I can get out west.
Fuzzy I'm no MD, but I broke some hand bones one time and the doctors told me its natural tendency for bones to want to go back to how they were before the injury. I couldnt work the job i had at the time with a cast so I cut it off and dealt with the pain for a few weeks. I guess what I'm getting at is I think with a lot of injuries, as long as theres no major risk for further injury, its just about your pain threshold. Collar bones a little diferent than hand I know, just my thoughts on it

i rushed my ankle injury and i still regret it, and it wasnt even a break, i went back to work after a week of down time, my ankle is still swollen

ah yes grasshopper...we have all rushed an injury, It ususally doesn't pay off.

Rushing doesn't pay, pushed a dislocated shoulder once, wound up taking a year and half to get full range back.

you will know when your ready. I folded my knee and had a total ACL replacement 1-10-03 and competed that same year in september with little erratation and pulled a top five position.
I also broke my back with a 25' fall from a tammerac onto small stump 10-25-05 and had 2nd fastest in the work climb 9-14-07 after being a tec. in the work climb all day.
go at a pace you are comfortable with you will know when your ready.
