Brittle wood?

Princess tree Paulownia. Has anyone climbed or rigged of this tree? I looked it up and looks like the strength of the tree will be pretty weak. Im just learning with climbing. Been a bucket baby for awhile. But have to rig a few limbs off and wondering how strong it actually is.

Weak weak weak. I would put it in the same category with tree of heaven and maybe white pine. All a step below tulip poplar. Just know the Tp’s need to be beefy and any rigging should be spot on rope work (but it should be every day!). From our experience there isn’t much flex in limbs they just break.

Have 2 with a slight back lean. They are about 55 feet tall. Big wood till about 40ft. I shouldn’t have any trouble putting a bull rope at about 40 ft and pulling it should I ? It’s about 24” diameter at bottom and 14” at 40’. As long as I don’t pull to hard I think it will be good. The 3rd tree one I’m gonna take a few limbs off and drop the top to reduce as much rigging as I can.

The wood is also light. probably the lightest wood you will ever see. has a hollow pith chamber about an inch or so in diameter. The big limbs you speak of will be brittle.

From the pictures they look doable. Oldoak is right the wood is very light so make sure the pull line is tensioned properly. The hinge can be a bit brittle on straight wood so if possible get your open face notch low on the flair. Many times you can find stronger fibers in that area that are better for hinging.
