British climber looking for work in America.

hi there my name is ben im 21 years years old, i have been working in tree work now for just over three years and I have done my national certifercate at college for a year. I would like to find a job in the states somewhere as a climber.

I am currently a team leader for the company i work for at the moment in the south west of England, im experianced in Rigging, dismantling, prunning including crown reductions on both small and large trees, power line clearance and most aspects of arboriculture.

Im looking to find work initially for a year or two but depending on how it goes a longer term position would be good.

If anyone has any helpfull information or feels as if they would consider employing me please but needs more information post me or send me a personal message.

Hey guys and Ben especially.

What's the deal with working in the USA, can anyone like Ben just come on over and get a good job?

It appears the tree industry over there is a professional respected business. Over here it's more like ripped jeans, tattoos, bongs and booze ... and that's on the job site.

I just had this conception it was near impossible to get into and work in the USA.

I'm wondering the same thing about how arborists are treated/esteemed well here. So far at least 95% of the "tree companies" I've ever encountered would lead me to believe the qualifications for having such a job would be maybe just slightly higher than those for collecting trash. There was a thread here sometime in the past year or so where notice of jobs being offered had a web address referenced. I looked it up and saw the trash collectors were being offered the same wage, if I recall correctly. A search for posts by me containing the character string "trash" would likely produce a hit.

I'm beginning to think that aside from us generally being able to possess firearms, driving on the "right" side of the road, and not talking funny :), there'd be little to nothing different between living in the U.S or Australia.

95% of "tree workers" in texas at least don't know crapola about trees and only about 10% of those even know how to make a good cut and only 50% have ever heard of a saddle. 75% of the people that are trainable show up in sandals. /forum/images/graemlins/popez.gif

Like in my "avatar"?

Then with all these hacks and whacks around how does the mighty TreeDr manage to pay and provide all those benefits? It certainly wouldn't be from low balling.

Well I was talking about Texas for starters and don't get me wrong, threre a alot of good, skilled folks here if you want to talk about state wide. All the good peolple allready have jods that they want to stick with. We don't have a pool of qaulified climbers here moving around through companys. The starting pay in texas is lower to because state wide we just dont have alot really big trees and and the job description is primaraly dead wood removal in small neiborhood trees. For alot of the people reading this our work would be a walk in the park. - Nevic

DotPalm (Vharrison) in the Florida keys have been looking for a climber for a goodly while, now.
