Bridge Pulley with Swivel and 46MM ID Ring

I am interested in the pulley, simply because of the wear to the eye of the swivel that is on the bridge. A pulley wouldn't wear like that. I would love a swivel/pulley like the one monkey drew up. I might try the omni with a shackle. Have to get an omni first though
 
I've run a pulley for a short bit of time. In my opinion, it was almost a disadvantage to have such ease of movement in the bridge. Some friction in that area can actually help you hold position. Your bridge will see significantly less wear, though. That's for certain...still have to check for wear at knotted ends on a bridge such as a TM or anything with rigging plates (Liger, etc...). One thing a pulley won't give you that a swivel will is the option to connect your lanyard in SRT mode to the lower swivel eye which can help square your position.

very nice. you could probably rubber cement them together and maybe tether one to the other somehow. of course you might not ever open the thing, in which case there'd be no risk of dropping them.
 
I run a omni block all the time on my bridge and wouldn't have in any other way. If I need a bigger ring for a second I snap a biner in the omni
 
I tried the Hydra on my bridge for a VERY short time and took it off right away. Some friction is a good thing and with the pulley every minute move was amplified and I found it frustrating when trying to hold a position. Not worth it to save a $5 rope bridge.
 
I tried a Hydra on my bridge and I kept it on... I totally agree though! When I put it on my bridge it felt like I was on ice. I felt like there was no chance I was going to keep it on, but I gave it a second, and a third, and a fourth...and a fifth chance ('cause I spent so much on that darn thing) But! I really like it now. I can't explain it really, but I don't notice it being too "slippery" and I like having the three separate attachment points. Now that I don't have a hitch climber in my system (I climb on a Bulldog Bone) I enjoy having those multiple points. It is not perfect. I find the move to a pulley was a lot like when I moved to a Weaver floating Dee from a 4-Dee style. I couldn't handle the movement at first, and you all can imagine how much friction there actually is on a weaver "floating" Dee. You really had to shift your weight in that thing to move back and forth. And then with the pulley I felt the same crazy feeling of being too free. I don't even think about it now. I don't know if your body just adjusts to the movement or what, but it really doesn't bother me anymore. I guess I should try switching back to see if a simple ring makes me feel too constricted or maybe I would say, "Oh duh :rayos: what have I been doing on this stupid pulley? The friction is so much better with the ring!" I think I will try switching back to see if I am missing the friction.

I'm not trying to say the pulley is better, but I did want to mention that I did get used to it. I should also mention that I climb with an adjustable bridge which might be why I can tolerate the pulley. I often have a shorter bridge so I can control the balance etc. Who knows.
 
I've just been trying a pulley and finding it too, it's like the icy levels on a super mario game eh. I'm going to give it a week or two but I'll probably go back to two ct paws, clipping into both gives a nice gentle bend radius on the bridge anyhow..
 
I'm a bigger guy (230lbs, 260lbs with boots and gear). I was having some back issues positioning on a TM with a dmm ring on the bridge. Switched to the hydra and the pain went away. Seems like lighter guys do fine on rings, but I won't climb without my hydra pulley now. And way fewer bridge change outs.

Hi monkeylove - I'm considering getting the large DMM swivel for my bridge also: Do you mind letting me know how it looks/performs when you clip a biner onto each end of it (if you wanted to keep both biners on separate ends) in ddrt mode?

I'd like to know how separate it makes the ropes (+ biners), and also how it may/may not affect the swivel (orientation, forces, ect).

Thanks for any help.

I'm not 100% sure I know what you mean but when I get home I will set some stuff up and snap some pics. I run either the ZZ or the Uni for double line so I really don't have the 2 biners in there for that. I do run 2 biners in there for 2 seperate srt lines though so I think I get what your asking to see.

If you could: that would be cool. I'd be using ddrt (only sometimes) with the BDB - but any info on how close the ropes (+ biners) are to each other on the 2 ends of the large swivel would be useful.
