breaking in ..

I'm gonna have to go with Bostonbull on this one. I would rock it out and cut some wood and keep the high octane fuel. You might even consider some lucas fuel additive. I've been running it with my fuel and it seems to keep the things running spotless. Had some maintnance done and checked everything and it was spotless. Just tell UrbanTC that just since it's not a might stihl 192 he doesn't need to put it down.

going to let this one simmer.. i thought maybe get some clean <93>gas/rich oil run a tank or two, at a low idle, ,, this is my third 372, first x'torq but still my baby,, paid for in cash, i understand that the facotory says cut wood but the first ten hours of a saws life need to be monitered

Why do people want to idle brand new engines to "break them in?"

Run it/use it! Run it through the operating range. They say not to keep them at a steady speed for to long. So, just use the damned thing. You won't seat the rings by letting it sit there idle.

I'd run straight gas though, with the chain backwards.

Where did you receive the information about going easy in the first 10 hours?

I have to agree with bull why wait idle . My saws ( paid cash too) went to the job sites. broke in my 372 20 foot up a tree full rev. Yes they are tested at the factory to make sure they run at the specs thats it they don't run them to break them in, thats your job. A thumbs up on the fuel additive with ethanol it will clog up things.

I at least run the saw for a bit to work some of the mix through to lube that sucker up before sticking it into some wood... a little fore play.

Maybe a half diesel/half straight gas mixture... you know, diesel to get that added torque?
