I stumbled across this petzl lezard today, and thought that it might be adaptable for a breakaway lanyard, you could also potentially use it to transfer from a bucket to a tree and satisfy the requirement that you can't be attached to both at the same time.

Unfortunately I can't find a huge amount of information on it, but from what I've found it's designed as a breakaway for cliffside rescue with a helicopter. There's a locking release inside that will only disengage when you're loaded into the lift hook.

Unfortunately the video is mostly german, but there is a decent bit in the middle thats in english with some decent infographics.

Lastly, it looks like purchase requires onsite training given the specialized nature of it's use, and the only place I could find a price had it listed for $1500.

What's everyones thoughts on this?

Petzl has some cool stuff and a great R&D dept. But it sounded like the spoken languages were French and English(with American accent) , and the subtitles were Spanish - which are all Germanic languages but I didn't hear anyone spreche die Duetch.

Anyway theatertech, you also said I can't be attached to the tree and bucket at the same time - what? Although I do see the inherent risk of the bucket failing and maybe ripping my harness apart or maybe tearing down the tree - but HOW do I make the transfer - do I disconnect from the bucket and THEN tie in to the tree???? or do I make both moves simultaneously???? - I'm confused

It's been discussed at our yearly safety training a couple times and I think it's an osha rule. As to how your "supposed" to do it, no idea. I tie into the tree, disconnect from the bucket and go to work
