The teeth are for keeping the end of the log from sliding side to side when i am loading them into the truck. I usually load 8' into the truck from the end.
The only trouble i had was the nut loosening. The hook just makes it easier to pull small trees over, and the teeth keep the logs from sliding. I have been completely satisified with the unit itself. It makes life so much easier. Oh yeah, and i am just learning to weld so I have been looking for projects..
Hey Derik I missed this thread, thanks for posting those pics. Email me and I will send you a bollard kit and log dogs, you can weld on N/C. Have you seen No Bivys Death Spike? he welded a point on the end of the hanger for pushing trees. The nut thing on the body has come loose on a small percentage of the grapples, I see you flipped the nut around to the top - notice that it is hitting the Knuckle, this will cause more elongation of the holes. you could notch out the knuckle so it clears the nut.

Dave,
Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I haven't been online much. Thank you very much for the offer of the log dogs and the bollard kit. I have already mounted a hook on the unit and added teeth so i don't have a need for the items. My intent of this post was by no means to complain about the branch manager but just to show what works for me. Your branch manager is an absolute must for anyone in the tree business with a mini skid steer. It is the best. I love to prove people wrong when they think the dingo/grappel is a little toy. There aren't too many people that I can't impress in just a short time. It is one of those things that you can't figure out how you did without it.
