Boy, 13, investigated in mystery tree cutting
OREGON CITY, Ore. — A 13-year-old Oregon boy has been charged with arson in a March 15 shed burning and detectives are investigating the teen in the illegal cutting of 20 trees and power poles. The mystery tree fellings caused at least two highway crashes and a power outage.
In Clackamas County Juvenile Court on Wednesday, Judge Deanne Darling told the seventh grade Sandy boy he could face several years of juvenile detention if convicted. He is charged with burglary, arson, criminal mischief and reckless burning in the shed fire. The judge ordered him to remain in detention.
Clackamas County sheriff’s detectives will forward their evidence in the tree cuttings to the county district attorney, who will determine whether additional charges will be filed. http://www.statesmanjournal.com/article/20100429/UPDATE/100428047
