Re: BOOTS on sale - Asolo\'s Fugitives

I noticed the sale. I'm not hugely impressed with the comfort of asolos but damn do they last forever. Mine still look great after 6months of use.

The most comfortable pair of boots I've ever worn for tree work that could handle both spur and footlock climbing is by far lowa boots. Unfortunately they didn't last much more then 6months and Rei stopped selling lowas for the season.

I'd check out sierra trading post for asolos. I got my fugitives for 85 bucks but there selection can be a bit slim at times.

Note: I don't climb on spurs, I can imagine though that the Asolo's wouldn't be sufficient support for spur climbing.

As far as comfort goes for no-spur climbing, they're a little stiff off the shelf but break in nice.

Re: BOOTS on sale - Asolo\'s Fugitives

I love my asolos whether its a long day on the ground or in the tree. My feet never overheat in the summer and if you get the asolos in gortex will never get wet either.

Re: BOOTS on sale - Asolo\'s Fugitives

I just picked up a pair of fugitives after my other pair of boots fell apart. I had a pair of Vasque Wasatch boots and the sole fell apart just before the year warranty was up, so Vasque gave me a full refund for a new pair of boots. So far they have been decently comfortable. I did climb with spurs yesterday and they were surprisingly supportive. Climbing otherwise with them is great in my opinion.

on my third pair of asolo boots. usually last about 14-18 months, with bucket use. Got them for 85 dollars on sierra.

[/ QUOTE ]O crap I just spent $129 for a pair at REI today!

Would reinforcing glue help? With my luck they would fall apart AFTER warranty.

Re: BOOTS on sale - Asolo\'s Fugitives

If none of you have tried them, I HIGHLY recommend the Danner Elk Hunter at Cabella's. Most comfortable, off the shelf boot I have ever worn. I think I must be on my 10th pair. They are only good for one year, but hey, what else lasts that long in tree work?

Plus, they have the bob soles... like little rubber cleats for climbing!

Spendy though.. about 265 a pair. But happy feet are worth it.
