Bonner Double Bag

Oooooooh, I've been around :) Seriously though, they had me working at my day job a LOT. Now I'm laid off, so I have time to hussle trees again. I don't knkw whether to be happy about this or not, lol. I will say I've missed dangling from a rope, and it feels good to get back at it, but I'm still trying to figure things like medical insurance and stuff out.

Officially it's the bomb. Today was my first climb in a month due to acl surgery. Had a drone rescue today and broke out the d bag. I think I will sew some little weights in to the corners for the wind. I put all eight of my throw bags in there, there is plenty of room. I slid it around the grass to get position right. Its way easier to flake into than the cubes. Especially after misses. I could keep my eye on the line on the tree rather than the cube. Its neat and tidy and packs well. Still a bit worried about the zipper in the long run but right now I am super happy with my new system.

So far, I'm liking Tom's solution the best......I may have to pick up one of these before too long. I'm still working with the TS throw line reels. They do work and well, but they cost a lot of real estate in the gear bag.

It seems to me that if you've got pockets with 8 throw bags in there then you've got weights for the corners right at hand. no?

Is this the thing Nick was going to send me to preview from back at Christmas time?

Well I've used mine a couple times now and I'm a huge fan. I think the only time you might prefer a cube is if you occasionally take it up into the tree, which is not even remotely feasible with this thing. I've seen a couple of guys who wrestle with a cube in the tree, but it's not my thing at all, I'll stick with a hand fishing spool for that.

I had a good stiff breeze yesterday morning, so I sat the tarp in a 'well' that I built up with a few sticks, like a little fort, worked great and dead easy. I like how easy it is to find the other end of the line (cos it's tied to a snap in one of the corners) for pulling the ring/ring saver on after the throw is made. This is probably the most time efficient way to handle a couple of throw lines. My biggest problem with it is I have 3 unused throw-bag slots there, which of course makes me feel gear deficient, which will inevitably lead to me being dollar deficient.

Great job TreeStuff & thanks Nick

I got mine today. I will mess with it tomorrow but may have to put it on treebay. It's much bigger than I thought it would be. Not sure it will fit in my gear bag and i'm not sure there is a place to put a grommet and hang it off my gear bag on the outside. The courant bag is packed full. No room at the inn.

Is it bigger than a folded cube Steve?
It's much much bigger than a cube. It's around the same size as my petzl sequoia when it's stuffed in the bag it came in

Edit. Measured it up, 19" x 10" x 4" - maybe less than 4" deep if you stuffed less throwline in than I did. It's big alright about like a laptop computer

The problem is my bag is busting out at the seams. I have the little elderid cube(not really a cube) and it sits perfectly under the top cover of the bag. I'm gonna have to revamp everything now. It's a cool idea but I just don't know how I'm gonna fit it.

Fairly certain that another gear bag is the proper answer. I can't be certain. I have a Courant cross coming as well along with $1300 worth of other goodies. Last thing I need is another bag to feel the need to fill :aburrido:

Edit: to not hijack this thread, the BDB was one of them.... But switched back to new cubes instead. Still undecided and haven't pushed the "order" button yet....

Cant do another gear bag. I have a bed box in my truck with 2 climbing rope bags, gear bag, 3 saws, lite riggin bag, heavy riggin bag, chaps, tools, spiles, captain hook, then the multiple pelican cases in the cab under the rear seat. Dude there just isn't any more room!

I feel your pain Steve, that's how I ended up buying a trailer. So now my truck is less full but there is always something I forgot I might need.

Trailer or hitch hauler:cachetada:...I don't need this "I don't have room" negativity.... :muyenojado:

Nah, thank you for all of your reviews Steve, I really enjoy them. Love when someone else takes the hit on trying something out haha
