Bid work

I was looking to see if anyone knew where I could got to bid on AT&T line clearance work. I have done utility clearance with Davey and now I see my current boss has one crew that does the work and I was wanting to get my personal company involved in that line of work. I just dont know where to start.

Line doesn't mean electric. Just hard not to think electric when u see LINE.

I did Line clearance for Verizon before. Verizon is worst company every. Bastards took almost a year to pay. Or, technically, it was their "contractor" that took so long to pay us.

I don't like to do any contracts. Contracts are usually lowest bidder and it takes a long time before you are paid.

It's really hard to clear much profit doing line clearance. Companies like Davey and Asplundh can make it work through volume and "reputation." Most of the time they will add more work with no more compensation (it'll be right in the contract) and will nit pick about the work after it's done, further dragging out the payment schedule. I'm not saying you can't make it work, just go in with your eyes open.

My grandpa and dad have done At&t lines for over 30 years and now I am taking over, they are a good company to work for. They are more reactive than proactive though. But it makes for good fill in work when you get done with bigger jobs and need a smaller job to finish off your day. Just go to your local At&t garage and ask them but they hard to get a hold of. They might even tell you that they don't use a tree company. But once you are with them, they are a greg company to be with.
