I've been eyeing these. What'd you use before and what do you like most about them?

Sorry, just saw you asked this.
I started out with the basic Klein set which are good, but not as comfortable wearing for extended periods. Would prob be better with the Opal pads.
I like the adjustability and ease of popping them on and off and easy to reach down and adjust in the tree if need be.
They have height adjustments that better fit different boots and soles.
I’m also tall and have a 38” inseam and these adjusted higher for better comfort. It was a toss up between these and the Steins which I found are identical to the climb rights.

Also to mention, the pads are large and the shape covers most of the calf for great support and no wiggle.

Maybe my legs are just used to mostly pole spurs. I have good external hip rotation, it seems. I can't get both knees to touch the bed, which I'm sinking into slightly, when the sole of my feet are together, but close.

With tree spurs in a dead doug-fir, the other day, they were torqueing my knees from the beginning. I have to stand with my feet wider to wear tree spurs, putting the spurs into the tree farther apart.

I also don't stomp, just step up.

I can't imagine getting stability in small wood with tree spurs. Normally, I don't have to go into less than 3.5-4" diameter wood, but sometimes I do.

I had an overhead and slightly to the side TIP, but was fully weight on this tree being removed.
hello sean,

no problem to go this high/thin, no stability issues and felt very comfortable. i also tied into the maple cluster slightly overhead and to the side. good for you that you have the freedom of choice and good for me, too. :)

greetings

I'm a little late to the party here. So I have Kiwi Klimbers. I have the first pair in the USA and they were a demo. They are still cranking away and original velcro. ( years now). I'm not gentle or the kind of guy who takes their spurs off while walking across hard surfaces. They're adjustable and so comfortable. I absolutely love them and can't imagine using anything else. I didn't like any of the other carbon fibers at the time and came from titanium bucks with the big buck pads. Here's the original review. I do take in consideration they cost at least 2 times more than I paid for these now. My disclaimer for the review is this is a lifetime ago. I take no responsibility for this kid in the video. LOL. Oh I had replaced those lowers with velcro rite away. Those lowers ended up replaced after about 6 years. Also WESSPUR is my go to. I haven't shopped anywhere else since TS sold out. Nice guy Dave is probably my best friend so I wanted to clarify that.
