Hi folks, looking to move into a harness that includes an optional life support rated chest harness that can be attached and detached as desired. Needs to be ANSI bucket compliant. I have tried the Camp tree access evo saddle, which was pretty comfortable. I don't like the flat bridge with screw shackle attachments, but could put up with it. What else is out there?

The tree access evo I have had a round bridge... also I swapped out the shackles for petzl open rings, added a second bridge and never looked back.

Also I found the shoulder straps more comfortable than the Buckingham equivalent.

As to bucket fall arrest rating, in discussing with dr. John ball, I needed either a short that 24 inch strap, OR a deceleration lanyard...

Great information - thanks! So the camp tree access gt does not fulfill the ANSI bucket standard? I would like to hear more of what you are saying about the strap and deceleration lanyard - where they attach, how they attach, an example of a potentially suitable one, etc.

Not sure exactly, I have a tree access evo... but three general idea wasd that under 24 inches is fall restrain (meaning it's basically impossible to fall out of the bucket with it attached) and fall arrest with the deceleration lanyard attached (dorsal or sternal) the key piece being either needs to be attached to a rated harness with rated shoulder straps which the camp with shoulder straps fits the bill... the ergovation with rated shoulder straps would also comply though im not a fan of the way it fits

Thanks, I understand now. Good to know.

I bought a Buckingham ErgoPro back in July 2019ish.. I wear it daily in the bucket with the intent of being able to jump on a crane ball and hop back into the bucket for cuts as needed. It fits well. If Im climbing all day no bucket I prefer my NT Onyx but its ok to climb with. I find the leg straps don't stay adjusted but its no big deal to cinch them up as they work loose. It is a very comfy saddle. I would buy another

I'm surprised that you could buy a piece of Buckingham gear after knowing of and flying on an Onyx, lol. Because you did, I'll have to look at the Buckingham saddle. Appreciate the review.

Camp sells replacement bridges with a choice of webbed bridge or rope bridge. https://www.camp-usa.com/safety/product/tree-access-evo-spare-rope-bridge/
You can also pick different lengths. I like the idea of changing the shackles out for petzl open rings.

this is what i am currently using as it was one of the few i could find available that was ANSI a few years back: SHerrill/TreeStuff and Wesspur prolly all sell it cheaper then the link below. but i love this thing easy to remove harness options and gives you an option to adjust shoulder straps so they dont rub on your neck (which i have problems with on alot of hanresses).

I've been looking at different options for this and they are few. Beyond the ones already mentioned, there is the edelrid treecore. Which is kind of like a hybrid harness with a dual webbing bridge, which doesn't appear to have the same range of motion as a true rope bridge. In the same fashion there is the task x-arb harness with the dual webbing bridge. Rich Hattier has been using this model and I have sat in his. It is comfortable in terms of the quick vertical hang I did with it, didn't have time to really move around though. I believe he said that they were working on a variation with a true rope bridge. I believe he also hinted that ISC might be in the process of developing a harness with a fall arrest upper, but I cannot confirm nor deny if or when that may actually be happening or its design in terms of rope bridge. Or if I even heard correctly.

The new courant koala work looks promising, but hasn't hit the market yet and is a bit hard to find any info on, so I attached a screenshot of the results of my search.

My guess is the next gen treemotion will have an attachable upper. Between competition climbers wearing a second harness over their treemotions for certain events, the new bucket truck rules. Some Canadian areas requiring uppers for all climbing I believe. The two rope UK rule, and climbers there adapting fall arrest devices to from their rope bridges to a second line, which is technically a big no(they were not designed or tested in that application.) All the other harness that are starting to go that route ahead of the curve. I just can't see them missing what is going to be a big hunk of the market share...

You've obviously looked into this quite a bit, @Rob Stafari . Thanks for sharing. The Koala looks legit. The task x-arb looks like it does not have a rope bridge... Solid looking harness, but the lack of rope bridge is a nope for a climbing arb...

Yes, Current model is a hybrid with a sort of dual webbing bridge. Similar to the edelrid treecore, but doesn't appear to have even the same range of motion of that. They are allegedly working on a model with a full rope bridge, which I think they need at this point to gain any real traction in the arb world.

Rich Hattier says he doesn't miss the rope bridge one bit after flying in the x-arb for some time. I believe he is a member here and perhaps we can get him to chime in with his opinion straight from him... @rich_h Any thoughts you'd care to add or clarify anything I'm not remembering correctly?
