beetle id

I will find time to look this beetle up and ID it, but maybe someone out there knows what it is. Found it in my rope bag, but it must have come out of a douglas fir I killed here on Gabriola Island. It was about 2.5" long.
Pretty cool, whatever it is.

Hi Jeff,
Looks like Banded Alder Borer.
It's not a pest.

The larvae usually bore into dead or dying wood.
