Beeline for tether

I haven’t climbed or done tree work in 14 years, but still remember getting good advice from this community. I am trying to get set up for saddle hunting. The niche companies sell multiple linesman ropes and tethers that are 8mm and 10 mm. Is there any reason not do use bee line for this purpose? I used to use 11mm and 13 mm ropes, but since this will need to be compact and lightweight, I was going to run smaller. Just would like to use a known rope brand, than the unknown origins of premade tethers and linesman rope.

In the saddlehunter world, a tether is another name for a lanyard that is choked on the tree. If the lanyard is used attached to each side it is called a linesmen’s rope, or belt.
Beeline, or other hitch cord would work, might be more expensive though.

Is there a standard that you're using for choosing components of your climbing system.

If I were to assemble a strong yet compact climbing system for cat rescue or wilderness recreational tree climbing I have more latitude in components to consider

There is a cordage that has been renamed. At one time it was New England Tech Cord. 5/32" and 5k# breaking. All knots, like barrel and anchor hitches need to be triple wraps because of how stiff and slippery the cord is

I can't recall its current name

WHat adjuster do you plan on using?

It’s still called Tech Cord, now the maker is stated as Teufelberger, which owns NER. It is now rated at 4800#, the stiffness can be tamed by cutting some core out to leave some slack in the cover.
