How come any of your snap cuts, snapped? What did you have to protect the fence? from all those bouncing biscuits?

re 'snap cuts' you mean the step cuts at the end?

they were snapped then thrown into the landing zone. never actually put any of actual snapping in the vid, is that what you mean?

we put tyres along the retaining wall next to the building. There was also a gas tank which we built a temporary shelter over (not to stop branches damaging it just in case small dead bits broke off when branches were being rigged out)

Was that a one day job Grover?

Sometimes a guys gotta do what it takes to be competitive these days!

A few controlled leaders, and chunk the rest away from targets.

When I rope everything on a removal of any true size, it rarely gets done in one day anymore!

I like brush mattresses to bomb onto a lot.

Nice job mate.

Yes the step cuts I meant obviously, but it looked like you just cut straight thru. I didn't see the 'step', just the lower cut to the left. Anyhow, good work.

I think I said this last video but was the top of that tree in outer space? why do things look so far away? Even the rope throw. Looked like that branch was 50' away. Great vid. Liked the landscape too. I love when they fall nice and slow like that. Thanks

Try watching it again. It is very clear that he was making step/snap cuts.

Cool video Grover, I like your style, skill was displayed, you kept it simple, and great tunes(as always). That tree did look really tall, do they get real big up where you are?

Cheers folks,

TH Hamel, there was decay/cavity down that spar below me - too dangerous to rig sections down on itself, that's why I got the Jonsered up and cut small chunks. If there is an alternative to rigging when there is a structural weakness in the tree I'll use it.

Jomo, no, in total with the prep that job took 3 days, what you see in the vid is a small part of the total removal, it was the last day. There was loads of rigging prior to this but i never had the camera rolling.

SuperK - yes Jonsered 2171 with 20" bar (same saw as the Husky 372xp) love that saw, always delivers.

Adkpk, it's a drift 170, everything looks further away than it is in real life because of the wide angled lense. It was a very tall tree though, not sure what the height was as I gave up with tree heights years ago.
