Bee Line...

Can anyone think of a reason not to coat 5/16" Bee Line core with Yale's Maxi Jacket? I was just working with Yale Crystalyne and was excited to see how much easier it was to work with having the coating. It felt more like the HRC core. I have been using a heavy coat of Maxi Jacket on my naked eyes for some time. It holds up well.

No reason not to. If you are going to leave the core of Bee Line exposed coating it with Maxijacket is almost required since uncoated it will snag pretty easily.

Go for it.

I coat the eyes of beeline and HRC with 2 or 3 layers of maxijacket. The maxijacket coating on the crystalyne core isn't enough to give the protection I think we need to protect against all the tree grime and friction rubbing on climbing lines, etc.

I've watered down some maxijacket that I occasionally use to coat other things, just to stiffen them up.

An adequately thick coating on the core would change the handling of the rope too much (make it too stiff).

Maxijacket is waterbased. Dip it is has some hard core chemicals in it and would probably knock me out if I took a big whiff. I haven't used the dip it enough yet to know if it's worth it to my lungs...

The dip it is a lot thicker. Maxijacket tends to soak into the ropes, dip it seems to sit on top of the rope.
