Beater Chip Truck

Looks pretty cool to me. Box it out with wood for the chip box and it has some tool storage which is a big plus for me. But who knows I'm kinda judging it by pictures. Not to mention it's cheap! : ) And with the plow for the winter which is kinda sweet too.

What do you use now Mike? I just pull a dump trailer. I think it is more economical. A second truck allowing for bringing the stump grinder and eventually a mini makes for more sense to me, than a chipper and a chipper truck but I recognize the limitations of my understanding.

My pickup is set up as a tool truck, pulling a bandit 65 chipper. I have a trailer as well but I have been getting away pretty good with spraying chips in the woods and leaving wood in firewood length. Been keeping it quite simple in this rural neck of the woods. But there are a lot of jobs where hauling chips is needed at minimum.

Set ups will always be different depending on the area your working in. I could never get away with what I'm doing in a city. Not a chance.

Dude says the motor is good and frame is in great shape. Says rust needs to be taken care of in spots (toolboxes, bed), small hydraulic leak. Getting rid of it "for a friend" We'll see....going to check her out later today : )

That has probably got a pre-turbo 7.3 L, a workhorse but you are not going to be hauling chippers on the interstate at great speed. Seems to have all the usual New England rust problems. I like the configuration. Nice.

(oh, sorry, noticed its got a 460) How many miles?

115K miles. Interstate travel is quite rare out here for me, thankfully. Definitely some rust but he said the frame was in great condition which I can dig.

Thanks dudes. I am currently working on the mechanics right now. I did as much as I could and then sent it off to the shop for some things that I just didn't have time to try and figure out. I'll have put in 1600 in parts and labor by the end. She needed some love.

Work in progress for sure. I will take some pictures, some good before and after. My sister is a hell of an artist as well so she'll be doing some cool painting on the chip box.

When I get it back, it's sandblasting time.
