beach/water anchors

I need an ground anchor system that works for waterfront work. I have been trying to get my truck onto the beach, or use a series of three or more long metal posts hammered into the lake bottom (loon sh*t or sand), it has been working and seems like the best solution. I was just wondering if anyone had some creative, practical solution, or a custom made anchor system.

My buddy who was working ground for me , went out to Montauk point ... saw two skidders parked on the beach above high water , to this day I can only guess the were used for some sort of anchors ... the biggest tree around is less than 8 inches DBH...

Do some googling on 'pickets'.

There are some easy to build systems using posts pounded at an angle and then connected top to bottom to the one in front of the other.

Good anchoring system, but can be fabricated if you have the skills and tools

This winch works really well. Unlike a come-a-long, it works on both strokes of the handle, and will handle unlimited lengths of cable.
I have not tried it with static line, but I have friends who have and say it works.

To release the load, simply click a lever and work the handle back and forth until the line is slack, then it will free wheel.

Comes in a variety of different load capacities. The heaviest is in the 60 lb. weight range. Plenty strong for a normal rig, but a chip truck is real heavy.

Might want to set a smaller 4x4 out past where you need to go, anchor it with a pull-pal, then attach a block to it with a doubled line going back to the chip truck.

Sticking 'pickets' or 'T' stakes into the ground in an attempt to create a solid anchor does not work, Tom.
Pickets pull out, bend, are next to impossible to pull out when set in solid ground, and can be run over and puncture a tire or oil pan. Especially when the rig needs to be pulled right up to the anchor point (which it usually does).

The nice thing about the pull-pal, or similar device is that it does not need to be buried into a deep hole and then dug out. Storm anchors used in sailing are typically used in this fashion.

Hope this is helpful

if it's soft sand, i dont see why pickets or dead-man anchors, (used by alpine climbers in snow) wouldn't work.

also, how about marsh anchors, like the utility companies anchor guy wires?
