Bartlett Antidote rope

I'm a rope junkie. Got way more ropes than I will ever use, but that doesn't stop me from getting new ones to add to my collection. Didn't have a high viz green one in my collection so I went on the prowl. Turns out Barlett has an exclusive one named, Antidote. Now those of you who are familiar with Bartlett know, somewhere well below Madsen's by a long shot but still right up there, that their catalog is terrible for giving you the data on their products that you really want to know. This antidote rope has a long story about really stupid stuff, but nothing about the rope. I liked the color, so I ordered it anyway.
If by chance you are thinking about what the heck this rope really is, I got mine today, and I am pretty certain it is nothing more than a color variation of Samson's Hyperclimb.
I like it though. I have used Hyperclimb in the past and it works well in my Zigzags.
Of course, when I was putting it in a bag my wife came by and said, "Another rope! Don't you have enough ropes?" I bit my tongue and keep stuffing the rope in the bag, but my brain was thinking about that new pair of shoes she had ordered when there are at least 8 pair in her closet already. Best to let the brain run and keep the mouth shut sometimes.

Based on my personal experience she's still at the low end of the spectrum

It's hard to explain to her that each rope does a specific job and that no one rope can do it all. Or is that a lie I just tell myself so I can order more ropes?

Good gawd! I have a pair of summer tennis shoes, a pair of winter boots, and a pair of climbing boots.
Now I don't feel so bad about my ropes.

For many years, I kept a minimum shoe inventory until I realized I wasn't saving much of anything other than closet space. If you have one pair of shoes and they last a year, you buy a new pair annually. If you have 10 pairs (and wear them equally), you buy 10 pairs every 10 years. So why not have an assortment to choose from?

You and my wife would be fighting over closet floor space.
My climbing boots are in my truck, the tennis shoes I have on, and the winter boots are sitting on the floor next to my chair because I will be putting them on to take the dog out for a walk in the woods in a bit. No storage space required.

My wife….dozens maybe even a hundred pairs

None are ever thrown out (except her knackered running shoes)

She even buys my shoes as shoe buying gives her such a buzz.

These are the latest favourites,she bought them second hand for a fancy dress party, they caused a bit of a stir.

I think you get more total shoe life that way. One thing that wears shoes out is constant moisture.

I have 2 of the same brand/model hiking boots I wear every day. I switch every other day to let a pair dry out better (and rarely wear either on weekends). The uppers are almost always in good shape by the time there is no sole left. Instead of getting a year/pair I think I'm getting 3 years out of 2 pair. But that may be in my head too...

Yeah, there are so many color and name variations of Blue Moon that you need a game schedule to keep track. Still, one of my all-time favorite ropes. I'm sure I have well over a thousand feet of Blue Moon in various colors and names.
Yesterday I came across 40 meters of 9.5 Beal dynamic rope that has never seen the light of day. I can't remember why I have that as I don't rock climb. Probably bought it for a project I had a good idea I might take a fall on as a way of not breaking my back. Who knows... It may come in handy someday, but probably not. I don't know any rock climbers or I would give it away so I could let my wife know I was reducing the rope inventory.

When I begin using a rope, I stick with it until it is toast, unless I really don't like the way it performs. Usually about two years and it begins to show signs of abuse (tend to do a little light rigging with my climb lines), then it goes on my burn pile. If I buy a rope and stick it in my walk-in closet (rope storage room) I do not pay any attention to a date. Those are not in the sunlight or heat. I can't remember discarding a rope because of a date per se'.
Same with rigging lines. I am very hard on my rigging ropes. I tend to overload them most of the time. But it is not like I am going to drop a 600-pound limb on someone's house. If my rigging lines break the damn thing will just end up where I didn't want it to go and make more work for myself. Nice feature about working in the woods as appose to residential work. If I am working a powerline, it is because the powerline has already been brought down by the trees. I can't mess it up any more than it is. So, my rigging lines are only good for about a year and then I replace them.
I have ropes that are 15 years old, at least, and I would not hesitate to pull them out and use them tomorrow. Never have seen the sunlight or been warmer than 75 degrees F.
I have never been one that is a, by the book fanatic. I still use Tenex as a climbing prusik. Or can't I say that these days?

Would that Beal be good for light duty rigging??? Maybe you don't do a lot of that... We use a 3/8" rigging line (maybe its a Stable Braid?) for small stuff all the time. It is so light and easy that sometimes I probably use it when I should be going up a size.

It could probably be used for that, but I also have a lot of 3/8" Stable Braid that doesn't stretch, so why? I'm sure I bought it for a project where there was a reasonable chance, I was going to end up dangling off a tree. It probably has a 30% stretch @10%. Not exactly useful for tree work unless you want to tension something. I've heard of some using it to tension a leaner, but I've never tried that and probably never will. Sounds like the long way around a small barn.

Bartlett's Antidote is indeed a color variation of Samson Hyperclimb. Bartlett confirmed that when I inquired about the specs.
150' came in a Samson Hyperclimb bag w the product label showing Bartlett's name.
I milked 59½" from it right out of the bag.
Bartlett said to buy 16 braid if I didn't want that much milking.
Waiting for a response from Samson.
