Scoping out some Bandit Chippers. I see both GM and Ford has engine options. One better then another?
THANKS! Merry Christmas all.

I have not had any experience with Ford or GM industrial gas engines on shippers, but based on my experience with both engines and trucks, I would go with the GM engine. In my experience, GM truck engines last far longer than Ford engines. I can’t guarantee that holds true in the industrial engines though, so take my advice for what you feel it’s worth.

Respectfully I have to disagree a Ford V10 imo is the best gas engine for power and reliability to date
20 years these days in production is a long time

Just ordered the new F550 with the V10 replacement “Godzilla” 7.3 gas
440 hp and can’t remember the torque but great reviews
The word is Ford is testing them supercharged for the new raptors

You’re welcome to disagree, that is one engine I have not owned yet. I’ve owned three Fords in recent years, and had to rebuild one engine and replace the other two, all before they had 150k miles. My current GMC pickup has 229k and has never had a problem, and that has been the general theme of GMs in my experience.

Of course it’s quite possible that my experience has been a fluke, hence the reason I recommend taking my opinions with a grain of salt. There are a lot of Fords out there, and the F150 has been the best selling truck for many years, so I figure not everyone has had my same bad experiences.

Thanks for responses guys. I will say Venas, I purchased 2017 F550 with V10 gas and very happy to date. Pulls chipper (250XP) and nice full load (SouthCo box/purchase) and smooth ride all around. Don't mind doing estimates and such some days as well after dumping chips.

"Best selling truck"....only because GMC and Chevrolet wear a different badge. Combine the two and it isn't even close....full disclosure I am from a G.M employee family and will have a bias opinion.
