Backwards Handsaw Cutting!!!

This may not be a new thing........but.........it is to me!

I was doing a little pruning yesterday on a small apple yesterday. You know.....the lttle branches the size of a pencil. Instead of cutting on the "pull" (I am using a Silky Zubat with a brand new blade) I cut with a "push". The result was no grabbing or tearing.

I dunno if this is an old school trick or not!!!

I've never heard of it. Be careful you don't break your blade.

I've done it before when trying to use too big of a saw to cut too small of a branch. It does make a cleaner cut.

Hand pruners would be nice, but are not always available.

Good point!!!

This is just for little stuff........you are almost brushing it........for lack of a better term!

On stuff that small I swing the saw like a scythe cleaving off the sproutlets in showers of accursed leafbearing toothpicks.
