August Hunicke Videos

I have been using the new Toro wide track here with Mike, it is a sweet machine. I keep wanting to cut logs in half and the guys just roll up and grab them like nothing.

Ya drought combined with overcrowding makes them weak for beetle.
Like wolves on caribou.

Environmentalists killed them.
It's a tree mans gold rush.
Woodpeckers will nostalgically chirp about these boom years centuries from now.

Hey, August! Serious question here, asked out of an ignorance of the background situation. When you say that "environmentalists killed them", I'm assuming that some policy they implemented had a negative effect on the trees you had to deal with in the video. Could you provide some background on this? It's a really interesting, big picture thing you're talking about here.

Thanks in advance for any answers you choose to provide.

It was a generalization. A somewhat bitter one from past experience. So called environmentalists hamper the management of forests (always wanting everything left alone) to the point that overcrowding helps the beetles, and wildfires, especially in a drought.
Screaming, "no don't cut anything" they set the forests up for massive destruction. Loggers, farmers, ranchers, hunters, fisherman, people who rely on the land, are often more in tune with it and are the real environmentalists.
A child needs boundaries and child rearing in order to be well-adjusted/productive/happy/respectful. They are meant to be managed.
So are forests. A tree needs to be pruned for its own good. So does a forest, especially in places prone to drought. In my opinion, misguided environmentalism is more destructive than even less than perfect forest management/harvesting/replanting. Big subject, I am speaking in general terms.

seems like you enjoy pushing the limit on climbing sketch trees. clearly you have the experience to make an informed decision on whats good to tie into but jeepers, that one had me pondering. nice job. be safe. thanks, and enjoy your holidays

btw, what mechanical was that you were climbing on?

I don't understand that thinking, August. Forests have been around a lot longer than people.
