Auction Fundraiser: set of MCRS pads, new Rope Logic steel core flip line, two unused climbing ropes

So recently our forum friend Mower had his world turned upside down due to a house fire. Him and his partner lost almost everything including some precious pets, and it’s a stressful struggle beyond my imagination.

I’d like to help out a bit. I don’t have much in liquid capital, but I do have some useful gear collecting dust, and maybe y’all could make use of it. Maybe score a good bargain or maybe get in a bidding war and dig deep to help him out. I’m not making a penny off this stuff, 100% goes to him. I’m starting most of the bids around 22$ and shipping is included, if I recall right, that’s the cost of a flat rate large box shipped with USPS. If this stuff sold for less and I shipped, we’d be better off if I just sent him the cash that would be spent on shipping fees. Make sense? I think the flip line will fit in a medium box, so we can start that one a little less. Later on (hopefully tomorrow, but not positive) I’ll list another item that will fit in a small box.

We’ll let it go for 7 days. I want everyone to get a chance to participate, and I don’t want to make Nate wait for 10 days. At this time next Tuesday evening, we’ll end it, and I’ll ship the gear to the winners within 48 hours of the close. The item I list tomorrow or Thursday will end at the same time so it’ll only get 5 or 6 days, it’s nothing special anyways. Let’s limit increasing bids to one dollar increments, no nickel and dime raising, but you can beat someone’s bid for a dollar if you want. Nate can accept the payment, he’ll let me know he got it and I’ll ship it ASAP. We’ll get clarification that he can take PayPal, I think he can, if not I can take PayPal and Venmo it to him. He can take Venmo and cash app though and it’ll be simpler to pay him directly.

So bid starting at 16$
Current bid is 80$
We have a new unused steel core lanyard from Rope Logic. 1/2” diameter, 10’ length, steel rope snap and has Climb Right USA made rope grab attached, rope grab is also unused, add your own biner.D27844BF-AB2E-4FBD-A2D4-FA7E9DEAA2E8.jpegA99C4CDB-DEF4-4AF1-B7D2-4CF99FBE517B.jpegA49EEC73-C74C-404B-8598-F940386991BA.jpeg

Next up is a set of MCRS pads.
Starting bid at 22$
Current bid is 90$
I bought it from Steve C and didn’t do shit with it. I liked to daydream about building it with some dope ass splices and rigging plates like Rico did, but I’ll never get around to it, and I’m very happy with my Ergovation anyways. The belt is size 2 and the leg pads are size 1. My waist is 34 and idk what my thighs are but this would fit me well. I can take more pics or measurements of the pads if anyone wants, no problem. No longer available and seems to have a little cult following. These are used, at the moment, the keeper loop for the grommeted waist belt is gone, I got some 3/4 grey nylon flat webbing and a badass dry cleaner/ alterations lady though, I’ll get the belt loop repaired before I ship. Maybe she has some black leather strap that would probably look better, but the grey nylon is a close match if you rub some sweat and dirt in it. The loop rotted away because Steve probably sweated it up, so you might have some bonus DNA from one of the most respected arborists on the forum. Also included with the pads are 3 new unused ISC large aluminum rings 2 for the hips, and one for the center of the back. Some (all) assembly required.5FC570E2-B7E5-43D5-AF75-A8977A7120C7.jpegDEC52267-4CC9-4048-9F39-74853B6ACC5B.jpegE041A3DA-E0DC-483C-A370-F4E776E1FF1A.jpegB8E253E8-7B27-4868-A8B7-4D84F2A75E59.jpeg

A rope.
22$ starting bid.
Current bid is 110$.
200 foot 7/16” Blue Water Safe Line with factory sewn eye, metal thimble (probably steel, I’ll try sticking a magnet to it tomorrow), and DMM triple action captive bar D carabiner. New, clean, no idea if it’s a good climbing line, it’s unused and I don’t need it. I reckon that unused biner goes for more than 22$ though.

Another rope.
22$ starting bid.
135$ current bid.
1/2” Yale XTC-16 Fire, 120’ long. New unused, little dusty. Not really an SRT line, but it’s durable stuff for light rigging or MRS climbing through natural crotches or hardware.

I’m hopeful this idea generates a little cash for our friend. Happy bidding and feel free to make a similar thread now or in the future to help out a brother in need.

In case anyone missed it and doesn’t know what happened.

That one pic of the lanyard tag says “swivel snap”. It most certainly is not a swivel snap. Maybe if you win it and bitch loudly about such fallacy they’ll give you one with a swivel. Probably not, but stranger things have happened. I probably would’ve noticed sooner if I’d bothered to use it.

I’ve seen fundraising efforts successfully implemented on other forums. Typically a raffle type deal raises more money than an auction. More folks will be apt to toss in 10-20 for a couple raffle tickets than a larger chunk of change. Just a friendly piece of advice. I have an item that I could toss in to help out. The raffle does tend to be more work for the guy running it though.

Also maybe @Tom Dunlap or @Mark Chisholm could pin this thread somewhere so it gets more traffic?

I agree, and also have some stuff to toss in the pot... Maybe a multi platform raffle, Treebuzz, tree life and other venues?

What about a combo? I bet if someone put in the time to finish that MCRS you could get a buttload of folks to pay $20-30 for a raffle ticket for that. I don't see the other items holding the same interest for people but I may be wrong.

Do you want bids by PM or post? Post may generate higher prices because we can see what the high bid is.
Either one, I’d prefer posts, but if you want to be anonymous, you can PM me.

The Blue Water rope is at 50$ now.

Also if the winner of the XTC wants, it will arrive with an eye splice at no additional cost, courtesy of an anonymous member here. I climb on a couple of this person’s splices, and absolutely vouch for their workmanship.

I dig the raffle idea, but I’m about to start a string of 12 and 16 hour night shifts and my brain is gonna be kinda rubbery this week. I’m afraid I’ll lose track of something or someone.

$25.34 for the lanyard.
$34.25 for the xtc.
Can I just make that 25 for the lanyard and 34 for the XTC?

Should the first post of this thread show the current bid? I can just edit it when someone raises.
