I had the immense pleasure of taking the new Arborwear Stretch Tech Pants for a ride this past weekend at the Texas TCC and to say I was impressed with them would be a HUGE understatement !!!
These britches are built to fit in a very similar fashion to the standard Tech Pants but the comfort they offer while aloft is much nicer due to the "stretch" material. The pants come with a multi side pocket on the left side just above knee level which is perfect for holding your gloves when not in use. The pocket on the right side is perfect for chap stick or even a cell phone. The two front and two back pockets are streamlined to avoid any accidental catching on limbs.
The pants come with ample grippy padding from just above your knee to just above your ankle to add more comfort while scrambling through branch unions and you have velcro and a zipper to custom fit the pants to your ankles and boots.
After climbing wet trees and operating in super humid hot conditions I would say that they pants are a little cooler than normal Tech Pants and they repel water quite nicely. Once the pants do get wet they dry off super quickly.
The stitching is holding up nicely after the inital climbing and the overall quality is typical of Arborwear's commitment to making superior products.
I believe these pants will be available in a small run roughly by ITCC. I would highly recommend getting your name on the waiting list now as these suckers are gonna go quickly !!!
