Hey guys, I got a call from one of your graduates last summer. When I asked for a resume, she sounded awfuly confused.Needless to say, one never arrived. Aside from teaching climbing and saw use, it would be really beneficial to teach these kids job-hunting skills. Put together a resume writing workshop, and teach interviewing skills. All the rigging knowledge in the world isn't going to help these kids if they can't get a foot in the door.

Jason,
The students here are required to go through extensive training and education on interviews, resume's, etc. When they graduate, a requirement is to generate a resume' to be used in Job searches when they leave. I shoot for 100% job placement for my graduates, out of my office. If a student approached you, it may have been someone who didn't complete the program but wanted to use our program to further themselves. Also, I can't control students once they leave. It is an unfortunate reality that I am going to have individuals that reflect poorly on my program out there floating around.
Since I took over this position three years ago, I have placed approximately 35 graduates. Overall, I have received positive feedback from employers regarding my graduates.
I am very candid about the skills and demeanor of students that I place. I am careful not to misrepresent my students or program, otherwise I couldn't get future students jobs.

Jason,

Our company wants to hire several climbers. Can you send us several?

Right now we are in LA on the northshore of Lake Pochatrain doing residential post hurricane work.

Attached is our job posting.

If you don't have anyone, who else has a training program?

Also, do you know of anyone who can run a program in Spanish for our documented workers? I might be willing to sponsor a class in English or Spanish.

Please call asap if at all possible.
