Aloha everybody. A job for an arborist has been posted at Harold L. Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu, HI. The Arboretum is owned and operated by the University of Hawaii, but is unattached to any campus. The Arboretum consists of 194 acres of native and non-native managed rainforest in a truly beautiful setting.

Here is a link to the job description with instructions on how to apply:

Please note that the posted salary is only the base minimum, and is definitely negotiable upwards depending on the candidates qualifications.

If you have any questions about this position please do not hesitate to get in touch with me at lmarcus@hawaii.edu . Also, please pass this on to anyone that you think might be interested.

Thanks.

I should mention that the benefits are EXCELLENT: 21 days paid vacation, 21 days paid sick leave, full medical/dental/vision, retirement, 6 free credit hours of classes every semester

Leon should also mention that the Arboretum is drop-dead gorgeous!!!!! This is an absolute once in a lifetime opportunity for someone who doesn't mind hanging out in tropical weather, eating authentic Japanese noodles (I recommend Ezo-Giku), surfing every evening, and generally getting over on the rest of us poor non tropical isle living suckers.

(hey Leon, I hope you don't mind us crashing in on you during your Far Eastern adventure)

Haha, thanks for the plug there Rich.

You're always welcome to crash into my adventures, too. Well, not literally. Are you coming to this side of the globe?

Very tempting but half a page of required qualifications have convinced me that I´m not half the superman I thought I was so I let it go for now.
Cheers
Svein

If you are interested in the job, please apply. Do not be intimidated by the job description. Also note that although it does mention a college degree, there is that short but ever so important phrase which follows: "or equivalent professional experience".

Sean, no plans for the near future, but I may try and make the Brisbane conference next May. It would be good to see you there.
