Haig Point Club is looking to add to its Arborist Team!
GENERAL PURPOSE: Performs professional tree, shrub, and instructs grounds men as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under Property Arborist supervision, an incumbent in this class performs and directs others in arborist work. The incumbent is responsible for inspecting trees, shrubs for pruning or removal. Responsibility includes planning of work with Property Arborist, keeping records of time with projects. Work is performed with considerable independence within departmental and ANSI z133 guidelines.
OTHER DUTIES:
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of tree maintenance and arbor culture; pesticides and their application; safety precautions of the trade; skill in the use of equipment of the trade including power and hand tools.
Ability to climb trees and tie knots; identify tree species, common insects and diseases; ability to plan, lay out the work of others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

- Assigns, instructs and direct groundmen
- Aids tree spray programs;
- Oversees the planting, pruning, topping, felling, cabling of trees.
- Operates power saws and climbing gear.
- Inspects trees for hazards and dangers before performing work.
- Lays out jobs and estimates time.
- Recommends new equipment and requisitions supplies;
- Maintains records for arborist maintenance program.
