Saw them at arbor expo. It's supposed to have a noise canceling feature, which would make it worth switching from the sena.. wondering if the noise canceling feature actually works and how well. Don't want to make the investment if it's identical to sena

Wearing hearing protection and listening to chainsaws and chippers via Bluetooth headset gets pretty old! I love the senas, but for cranework it sure is annoying when you're trying to talk with the climber and all you can hear is the chipper blasting from the guy standing next to it....

I'm interested as well the basic mic/speaker kit is really well priced if they're good and I have been wanting some coms for the crew.

@OasisTree you sold some a while back and said they were pretty good correct? I was looking at the actio ones and thinking I could probably just install them in our existing ear protection, any thoughts.

I have tried Senas, Speakeasy, and Cardos, and I think the noise canceling from speakeasy is the best out there. The reason I sold is because I wanted something that would pair easier with a larger number of headsets. Also, Speakeasy is a sequencing system instead of a mesh system, but as long as you stay in order your range is great.
And yes, I just installed them in my mask helmets, but I thinkthey would install fairly easily with other brands.

Cool I'm probably just looking at wanting a 250ft range max, which model did you have? I messaged him on Facebook book and he recommended the expensive one because of durability but they're also over twice the price.

According to the speakeasy people they will pair up to 6. What make and model did you switch to?

We went with the Cardos. I like the range and the Mesh technology. I bought the Cardos bold, they claim 1.6 mile range. Building interference seems to be less with the Cardos. Plus I don't think there is a limit as to how many can be on their system.

If you’re looking for a good comms set up for crane work I can’t say enough good things about the SENA 30k system. I pair with the crane operator over Bluetooth on our own private network. The rest of the crew is on the MESH system. When I need to talk to the crew I can open the MESH on my helmet and it brings us all together. Then when I’m done communicating with them I jump off MESH and I’m right back to the Bluetooth network with my crane operator. Works amazing.

That sounds interesting. So the crane operator is on a sena as well? And he cannot communicate with the rest of the crew?

Yes, everyone is using the Sena 30k. You can use those with Bluetooth or MESH. The Bluetooth connection is private while MESH is open. The crane operator or climber can open MESH at anytime which puts everyone on the MESH network. Then they can jump off MESH and go back to their private Bluetooth connection. It’s been great for us.

The other advantage for us is occasionally we’ve also had to rent a crane and that company uses the Sena SMH10. You can still do this same setup even if the crane operator is using the SMH10.

Sounds good. I am interested in something that cancels the noise. I just have the regular sena and whenever we try to switch people on and off of if someone accidentally hits a button it throws off the whole situation... don't get me wrong they are awesome it just suck listening to chipper sounds blasting in your ear while talking. If there is something that actually can cancel that out I want it..

I got speakeasy several years ago. Generally very happy with them. We only use 2 or 3. Noise canceling is good. I wish there was a better way to manage the wires for speakers but overall think they’re good. Definitely adds safety having noise canceling.
