anyone use Amsteel blue eye sling for blocks

Has any one used Amsteel Blue rope for eye sling to attach blocks and porta wrap?
I am getting ready to replace some slings and couldent help but notice how much higher rated these ropes are rated than my 10X and double braid slings. A 3/8 dia Amsteel Blue is rated at 19600 lbs and 1/2 is at 34000 lbs. Impresive! I thought it would be nicer to handle the smaller diameter and lighter weight and still be stronger. This product is suposed to be slipery. Is this true? If so do you need to change the hitches I would use with 10 X and double braid? Any help would be nice before I decide to spend the extra cash.

I'm not a huge fan of the application becaus it doesn't handle the friction from the bark as well as tenex does.

It may be stronger but I prefer tenex. I do have a HUGE loopie sling I made out of tenex. Nice and strong but does not handle the friction well and I never added any type of anti friction tubing.

I've been using 1/2" for over a year now on blocks, have 6 of them.

they've been good.

don't have to worry about melting unless you do things very sloppy and loose.

the fine fibers are a bit irritating catching bark edges and everything else. but mostly on our big 1 inch ones for the crane. catch the chainsaw teeth while it's hanging on me and all that, ... the dang caritool and pretty much everything that has an edge. I never got around to putting a jacket on the 1" like i wanted to.

the stuff is extremely light!
