Anybody used a cordless saw for pruning?

I was looking at 18v cordless drills for cabling and ran across the cute little cordless Makita chainsaw, You can even get a pole for it. $300USD for the whole rig.

Anybody used one?

Maybe this ain't the one but it looks like we just might have cordless pruning saws in our near future.

Most often we need the power and speed of the gas chainsaw. But electric (reciprocating) has benifits; quiet, no snoot full of exhaust, it could be more percise, one hand operation, no pull start, no kick back, no chain sharpening, but it will probably always be slower. Hopefully the smart people will develop better batteries and they could possibly be worn on a backpack with the power cord as a lanyard so the saw is lightweight, just don't cut the lanyard! Or a flex shaft drive like a dremel and have the battery and motor on the climbers back and keep the sawhead light and small. Or there's the laser or water jet saw, maybe a phazar, set to stun.

Looks very much alike the Makita (Dolmar is a Makita brand since a while). In the Dolmar manual is stated that you have to lubricate the chain by pouring oil on it by hand

I think I would still go for the Black and Decker if only it was on sale in Holland (you all know me by now, yes I am a incurable gadget freak).

The cordless chainsaw is made for the desk job/ cubical type of guys who think they can "do it themselves." This is going to give a false sense of competence for those guys. It is one more way for some one to get seriously hurt.

If it was all I had, I could make it work. Heavy duty extension cord, file down the rakers...
