any opinion on gas 2.5 ford engine vs diesel cat engine on bandit chipper

Personally, I am a fan of the Cat (Builth by Perkins) diesels, although I have not run that gas engine yet. The Perkipillar engines are generally quite good, and not terribly high maintenance, although parts are expensive if you have to get them through a Cat dealer.

sounds good thanks for the input i lke a good diesel i got 3 7.3 there great im gonna get a bandit with the cat 74 hp 12 in. drum chipper
I like a good diesel too, and I’m especially fond of the old 7.3. I recently sold one with 1,256,000 miles on it.

That chipper will do some good work for you, I’ve run that setup many times over the years and made a lot of money with one of those before we went bigger. I don’t know about the new ones, but they used to be great on fuel as well as plenty powerful for their size.
