another truck

It does seem a bit pricey. Personally I would pass. I also have had friends who have purchased trucks with the knuckle-boom attachment and say they never use it. It seems like you'll be lugging around all that extra weight for every once in awhile.

I don't think this is the optimum set up for wood pick up... I used to load wood with a similar set up. We added a swinger loader and I ended up selling the truck as we just stopped using it. The swinger was faster and more efficient.

Almost $35K for a truck that is almost 20 years old?? I don't think so. No matter what it is supposed to do I know one thing it will do---BREAK DOWN!

Royal tends to be pricey. They paint the trucks, put new bodies on them and mark them up alot. This is from what I have heard from many people(true or not IDK). My boss was gonna look at a similiar truck they had but it was a 4x4 and had a slighter larger k-boom with a winch on it. He ending up flying to Florida and driving a 52,000 GVW Sterling home to PA with a National N135 K-boom. Last summer he drove to South Carolina and came home with a Bandit 1990xp 24" chipper. Look around and don't be afraid to look farther away. Sometimes I wish we had our old F-600 K-boom truck for smaller jobs and I miss a dumping bed. That truck is nice in that you can chip into it and haul logs with the same truck if you need to. Seems like a lot of money for a truck that is almost 20 years old.
What are you really looking for a log truck or a chip truck?

Don't buy from them, ever. They screwed us over when we bought our current chip truck from them. Had to put a new engine in it, going to have to buy a new hood soon, because they used paint and bondo to keep it together. Stay far away from these guys.
