it is a tragic story indeed, used to be the dominant tree of the east. i volunteered with the American Chestnut Foundation last summer pollinating chestnuts and harvesting the actual chestnuts. Researchers are trying to find a resistant american chestnut. best of luck to them. fun time working with the chestnuts!
