Ambushed

Stihlmadd

Been here a while

takedown I inherited from another climber who muffed it up like a muppet and then ran away when his lowering rope ( cheap old three strand) broke on some main timber nearly killing a staff member on the ground.

lowered out the fluff and the secondary timber that was left and craned out the main timber with a 35 tonner.
contract climbing means Ambush from time to time...
cheers Ben.

Awesome job. Nice work on the tree and the video, some great shots there. That guy at the end is a bit crazy I'd say. Sequoia was happy to see ya.

You're slipping ben. You let a shot of your face get in the movie! You never show yourself LOL. Is that a large ring you're roping out of? Noticed you were using a single ring. At what point do you decide not to use the steel biner for securing the load line? I used to rig with steel snaps all the time and then got away from it due to the sharp bend. I hear arguments on both sides of the fence. Wondering how you feel about it. I don't think I remember you doing that in the past. Is that the reference to Reg?

well I have been putting in easter eggs to see if some one picks me up ,
c'mon Steve after all I did reveal my face in the video tag :sorprendido3: and I have had some requests to show me setting rigging but really just couldn't edit myself out so went meh and left it in.;)
I was on a medium ring for the end limb work and fell back to the boomsling then a large single for the final bits.
have another batch of X-rings to splice with that new T-rex so will be knocking out some more boomslings soon.
I almost always rig out on steel biners and have done so for ? ages
I am with August on this issue , I like the weight on the end and try not to be lazy by doing a straight cinch with biners but instead put a half hitch before terminating with a biner.
and yes the side loading can in certain circumstances can fail the rope ( got my ass whooped being a classic example).
please don't tell Reg....

Nice work. I always love finishing shit somebody else started. At least(as far as I could tell) they didn't cut out the tie in and main rigging points, that is the worst.

Been ambushed before as well. I went to one as the power company was leaving. I told the guy "hell you already ripped the main power down you should've finished the tree quickly". His climber was tied in half way up and said it was unsafe to go any higher because of a split in the trunk. Tied it up with marls and a half hour later left them with a tree on the ground in a giant tangled mess. Wouldn't of made a disaster but I bid that emergency removal and lost it to them for about what I charged them.
