Alumuinum Rings

I've seen guys with the yellow strap green ring friction saver for years and no problems. But Just this summer I bought an AFS with alum. rings smooth works good bot it has the silver chrome finish that my line has started to wear through now its finish is worn and rough is that normal? Has anyone else had this happen? I'm not a very agressive climber average at most and I have only run new clean lava and blue streak lines through it. Any input I can get is great. One last question is why don't they make an AFS with steel rings?

Look at the ring recall from Sherrill just to ensure you don't have any of the faulty smaller rings, but yes, there will be some dulling of the material where the rope runs through it.

From sherrill? I've thought about making one but in the catalouges and such I've only found alum. I'd love steel
