Thanks for the link. I'm unable to see the prices for items on the website. Am I doing something wrong? Also, has anyone been using the Forester stuff? I've been seeing it sell for cheap. So cheap that I'm afraid to try it.

We have their all season saw pants. They seem good for the price. Very hot in the summer, but they are all we wear in the late fall to early spring. We have never tested them to see if they would actually protect you from a saw.
Their throw balls are complete garbage IMO. We bought 6 or 8 of them one time and not a single one lasted more than 2 weeks.

We still buy saw chain, files, wedges, spark plugs, air filters and several other random products from them. I would say without exception the quality is lower than other name brands but so is the price. I will accept less quality or a less price in some situations. I would never ever ever trust one of their biners for rigging or life support.

Finally you have to be their customer with an account before they let you see their prices online.

chewbacca i have used forester bars and they work great for us . they also have a replacable spocket nose . i have used other forester products and have no complaints .

emr , not sure what brand of throw bags you got from them but i always get forester throw bags and they seem to last and take the abused we put them through . there biners are identical to baileys and sherrill , just not as much $$$ . the pants i have been getting from them are the forester jeans, i think thats the ones you are referring to . i also got some protective chaps and like them very much , just hot in the summer . hope this helps . be safe . peace !

That pants that we have are the knock offs of the SIPs. They recently discontinued that line.

The tbrowball that we got were the all red ones that only come in the 16oz weight. You must have bought the other ones that are available in different weights. I wondered about those, but now we are hooked on the unbreakable ones that Wesspur sells.

The biners that Ahlborn sells look identical or similar to the name brand ones but I promise you they are not similar quality. One time I was ordering from a company who sells Ahlborn products and I accidently ordered one and an employee (who unfortunately doesn't work there anymore) called to let me know that I should change my order. I didn't realize exactly what I had ordered and I was glad I was told. I am not saying the biners should not be trusted or that they are dangerous, I am just saying that I will not buy them to save a few bucks. I will only buy life support and rigging gear from high quality companies.

On to chainsaw bars. We have had one or two and they seem to work well for us. The chain and bars that we bought from my them have always been for our smaller saws. I would be interested to see how the bars and chain work on our 660.

when did you try to order biners last ? the ones they are selling now are all forester brand . the biners are also all CE compliant . the ones for rigging are all formed steel alloy . as far as bars goes i always order the commercial forester bars . so far they have worked good for us . i hear you bro i dont order everything from them but i kinda order from everybody certain things . take care .

I have never ordered biners from them. I so all of my comments on quality are based on assumptions but it's how I feel. I hope I am not coming across as anti Ahlborn because I am not. Like you said, good for certain things, other companies are good for others. I am amazed how many other companies out there will pick certainties from Ahlborn to sell in their catalogs. The folding throwing cubes seem to be a common one.

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from them before, chaps, files, work shirts, wedges and throw weights.

I have to say that the shirts were dirt cheap, had custom printing and we are still wearing them after 5 years!!!

Chaps are a bit of a pain because they are two right legs, the straps were not set up right and left. Out of 6 pair they were all right legged.

Throw weights were a dismal failure. As EMR mentioned less than a couple of weeks and they were dead.

I have steered away from Ahlborne however for one simple reason, Several years ago I was speaking with one of their upper level people, they talked like an owner, at a trade show and I asked how they sourced their products.

I mentioned a couple of items (patented tools) and asked if they could get them. His reply, all he needed to do was send a sample to their guy in China and tell him to copy it.

I'm not opposed to making a buck but I'm not so sure I'm cool about copying other folks stuff.

Just MHO

There bars are pretty good for extreme use. Hold up pretty well. As far as the "forester" polesaw blades.. Stay away. You get what you pay for. Complete junk. I ordered a spool of skip chain from them. It was carlton chain, not the knock off brand. Just recently tried to order more and they told me there not going to get any for atleast a year! He told me that oregon chain did some buy out. And the rest went south. He was kinda vague on input. But bottom line is, you get what you pay for.

we buy a fair amount of stuff from them. I would for sure say to stay away from the "Forester" chain. We had bad problems with them breaking. Even brand new ones that had not even been sharpened once. One broke and whipped around and hit my trimmers forearm. Luckily it was winter so he was wearing a sweatshirt. Still left a nice bruise. They did make it right though, sent them what was left of the real and they replaced it with a new real of Carlton.
