a suggestion to Pacific Helmets

Throw out that watermelon you're using to fit your helmets on and use an actual human head.

Does anyone find their helmets actually comfortable to wear? Worst suspension and fit of any helmet I've ever worn. I bought a 10$ hard hat from wallyworld a while ago in a pinch and it fit fifty times better than my 120$ Pacific helmet.

I've been tempted to buy Pacific ever since the 2nd generation Petzl helmets don't fit properly on my head and seem to be too big. No matter how many adjustments I do.
I tried a Pacific on in store a few months back and thought it fit comfortably snug.
I'm waiting for the new Petzl line to come out to make my final decision.

I love my Pacific except for the fact the the original head band turned my forehead black. I now swap out those terry cloth headbands and couldn't be happier. The Petzl helmets are just too small for me to use in winter when I want some type of hat or liner on under.

I have worn just about every helmet on the American market. I can say that hands down when it comes to durability, protection, longevity and ease of fitting hearing protection/headset communications. the Pacific has stood the test of time. In 8 years I have only gone through 2. I can fit just about any hearing muff on the side with minimal alterations and the earmarks fit well.

Mine is Class E rated which is a must for us.

I use an Under armor liner underneath when I am warm and a fleece hat when it's cold. Plenty of room for both simultaneously if the need arises.

Other helmets were lighter and fit tighter with better air flow, but at a similar price they just did not last nor have the ease of hearing protection attachment, nor carry a Class E rating.

I like the way those helmets fit. I have a giant irish dome and they must have been using a model of my head because they fit great with room to spare which is a rarety in other helmets.

Ah good to know they do fit someone! I like the outside of the hat, and the chinstrap, but I just wish it wasn't so uncomfortable on my noggin!

I love my Pacific HH. Fits well and doesn't come off. I do wish the chin strap material was more like the Petzl. The type they use irritates my baby soft chinny chin chin. I have also had a lot of comments about the Pacific and I figure if it gets people to wear proper PPE, so much the better.

love my Pac but hate the chinstrap. It is the only melon bucket that I don't feel the need to ratchet down tight.

That said, there are times when I wish I could make it ride a hair bit higher on the skull.

Wore petzl for a long time hated every minute of it.

Have test fitted the Kask but just can't justify dumping another more hard earned $$$ into another hat when I have two perfectly good Pac's sitting in the shop

I like the helmet. It fits like you say, but so what? It has a wire mesh screen and huge earmuffs. It is a good fighting hat; especially when I go to war with a chipper. You can really thrash around with the helmet on your head.

I don't climb with one in the tree though. It is so heavy and unwieldy I worry I'll get turned upside down in my saddle and the weight of the hat will keep me inverted until help arrives, or the chinstrap can be cut, releasing the helmet.
