A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

In conclusion, Sarah Palin is a post turtle.

In case you are wondering what a Post Turtle is: When you're driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a post turtle. You know she didn't get up there by herself. You know she doesn't belong there. She can't get anything done while she's up there and you just want to help the poor, helpless thing down.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

You all are blind to the fact that Sarah is the only politician brave enough to fight for our freedoms and keep the constitution from being trampled on by Obamacare and keep the government out of the way, and she puts lip stick on her pit bulls.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

With respect, Tom:

Palin prompted howls of partisan derision when she said on Boston’s Freedom Trail that Revere “warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms by ringing those bells and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.”

Palin insisted yesterday on Fox News Sunday she was right: “Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms.”

In fact, Revere’s own account of the ride in a 1798 letter seems to back up Palin’s claim. Revere describes how after his capture by British officers, he warned them “there would be five hundred Americans there in a short time for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.”

Boston University history professor Brendan McConville said, “Basically when Paul Revere was stopped by the British, he did say to them, ‘Look, there is a mobilization going on that you’ll be confronting,’ and the British are aware as they’re marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing — she was right about that — and warning shots being fired. That’s accurate.”

If you look at her from the side, she completely disappears.

TC..yeah...i read all of that spin drivel that Palin's machine put together. My Dad used to say that if you didn't like green beans you could find some doctor to agree with you...but check their credibility.

Oh...I was just counting the cookies in the jar...really...oh...these crumbs on my face??? I had to see if they hadn't spoiled...I'm watching out for you....ahahhahaha

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

Find it funny that you said boo duirng Obama lieing to get elected, then doing everything he promised he wouldnt do after he was elected. Now some dingbat from alaska is riding around in a bus and you speak up? We can rehash all this political BS, I think that you might get bent out of shape and ban some of us though. Better to not re hash it I guess.

Tom, I didn't know Palin had a Boston Univ prof in her machine. It didn't seem like Prof McConville was exactly happy about confirming her comments. So, which one of the facts I posted are untrue? If not, I also love Krispy Kreme glazed cinnamon.

And Richard, she never said Revere was riding to warn the British. He did get captured by them, however, and did warn them that Americans were on their way. Might as well throw something in about the 2nd. The Brits did confiscate weapons as that is what totalitarian regemes do. However, you don't owe me any donuts.

I don't think Palin should run, and I don't think she would win if she did. But I am a little raw with the mysoginistic treatment she gets (NOT saying any of you are doing this). She dared stand up and challenge the elites and they are trying to destroy her, not just win a political argument, but make sure she suffers. My Dad used to say you never pick on the girl.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

I've read a lot more than just what her machine found to trot out as a reply. Way more than I care to type out at 10pm.

The profs are speaking in absolutes, she blathers...so, during The Ride...where did PR warn the loyalists? When he was caught, what did he say? No cameras or recorders, just PR's version of his truth. What was said? Who knows...but...there were two signers of the Declaration of Independence that were able to avoid being captured. They would have been tried for treason...and likely have hung, if they were caught. I wonder how much blathering PR would have done after he was caught?

This isn't meant to be totally political but its hard not to edge up to the edges of politics. I won't stand for misogyny. Its hard to defend dumb.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

FYI, the context of Palin's comments were about why Revere rode in April 1775. Gen. Thomas Gage was sent to Concord to confiscate all the gun powder and weapons they had. That's why the British were going to Concord. They tried the same at Portsmouth in Dec 1774 (where revere also rode with a warning) and Boston in Feb 1775 but they had no luck either trip.

Part of the reason the 2nd Amendment was included later in 1791.

Maybe Palin actually knows more than her critics.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

I hope you know I'm not trying to attack you Tom. We just dissagree and are having a passionate discussion.

Yes, the Brits were after Adams and Hancock as well. Good thing they weren't captured. Other signers weren't so lucky. Most suffered immensely.

Yes, all we have is PR's version. If there is another contemporary version refuting his story I'd like to read it. If not, there's no good reason to throw it completely out besides acute scepticism.

I just dissagree with the degree that Palin has been villified in the media as most of it is nit-picking and just mean. One has a right to disagree with her, and argue against her positions. I've just found that she is not always quoted acurrately or in context, and then she is vehemently attacked. And no one tries to be charitible when she is factually accurate. It gets old after a while.

She's not dumb or stupid. She could be more clear, but I'd hate to have a bunch of folks listening to everything I said to try and destroy me. Another reason I won't run for public office.

I would never call our President stupid or dumb as he isn't, even though I am completely against his politics. I argue against his words, deeds, and policies and try not to attack his character as much as I can. I fear what has been lost in a lot of these political debates is being charitible. Though I also know when media folks have no real argument it's easy for them to slip into the sophist ad hominum dark side. True journalism died years ago.

I also know I gotta learn how to use the spell check on this thing.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

I kind of thought Palin's more akin to the genetic propensity of black mold that's troubling my efforts to sun-dry two Water Moccasin hides that I thought would make an ugly but purposeful pair of fishing suspenders for my hipwaders.

In WW1, a trick to inspire a
German infantryman to peek-up from the relative safety of his trench in order to allow your sharpshooter to pick him off, thus reducing the elements of future hand-to-hand combat, was to yell "HEY FRITZ!" Today, to elicite a similar response in targeted surveys or opinion polls, the shear mention of Sarah
Palin is just as effective.

Re: A \'Post Turtle\'=Sarah Palin

The British won the American war of independance, we know this by one simple fact, you all speak English, the British made you speak English and there's nothing you can do about it, you lost, you lost in the worst possible way.

Ahahahahahahahahah!
