I agree with courierguy on this one you could have an identical crane mounted on a truck, an AT carrier, or an RT carrier and the charts would be very close, the truck may actually have a better chart if it has an over the rear chart too.

theres one of the problems. you don't see the same boom mounted on different chassis, most of the time. A regular Peterbilt boom truck 10 wheeler frame couldn't handle the loads a purpose built truck crane unit could. and a truck crane unit could handle the loads/stresses/counter weights an AT unit could. And an AT unit couldn't handle the loads of a lattice boom crawler or tower crane.....although the new 1200T Liebherr AT is very nice!
AT are the most functional mobile cranes on the market today, no matter how you slice it. longer sticks, bigger charts, better load distribution, shorter outrigger setups required, independent suspension, hydro form booms, crab steering, truck their own removable counterweights, all wheel drive, etc etc etc
until you work with a boom truck, truck crane, and an AT its tough to explain! especially in a tight area.
Ask Mark C about the setup we did @ Arborday last year. Barely got the chip truck in, and a boom truck had no chance of even beginning to make the turn, unless we removed a tree, raised power lines, and re configured a stone wall. we did it in one swing with one stop to change the height of the suspension. then picked over to where another crew would have HAD to had resetup for 1 pick. we were @ 110' and plenty of chart.
I am a little biased though!
