When pulling trees, I always do it by hand with mechanical advantage, usually redirecting the pull line with a pulley (to get my MA system away from the lay and to put it at an accessible height for resetting.) I typically pull a z-rig with a dedicated "5:1" system for 15:1 (theoretical.) Sometimes, I attach the "5:1" system so I'm pulling towards the load (instead of the anchor), so it's actually a 4:1. If I can hold the rope and walk downhill to pull the system, seems like a good trade-off for the loss in MA. Anybody else flip their 5:1 around and use it as a 4:1?
