201T Scabbard IST GUT!!!

x2!!! I've picked up a few from the saw shop. It fits on older 200T and 192T saws as well. I never leave the ground without them now. Took me a sec to figure out what you meant by "ist gut", but now I get it.:)

Bev, you must have seen the new scabbard that latches onto the side cover? Easy on, easy off, snap it right onto the caritool while making the cut, roll it off and put it back on the saw. I like it. I don't just let my hand saw dangle around without a scabbard, so why do that with a chain saw if you have the option to use a scabbard?

I need one for my 192T, noticing rope damage on my lanyard and climbing rope from chain contact. Not to mention the chain snagging on nice Arborwear pant legs etc. Das ist gut. Danke schön!

Stihl dealers should have them in stock, separately from the saw. I think they're like $5.00 at my local shop.

I find hangin the saw from my caritool by the top handle keeps (learned this trick from oceans) it away from ropes and my spensive chainsaw pants. I also lost an oil cap a while ago, in the tree. And because the saw was oriented horizontally I got almost no bar oil on me. Hidden bonus there.

I'd love to see a picture of this configuration if someone has the time...Thanks...

just stopped by my Stihl dealer and looked at/ordered one. someone was thinking when they devised this one. just wish Treestuff could get it. my dealer doesn't normally stock it so they have to order it and stick me with shipping.

When I first saw oceans climb with the saw scabbard, I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical. But then I saw him destroy (in the good way) a messed up storm damaged elm. It in no way gets in the way, works great once you get the routine down, and like most innovations, is safer while being productive. For the few times I climb anymore, I will definitely incorporate this technique

Thanks, Sam! That was a pretty fun tree. I'm curious to see how that place looks now...after ALL that work. What a great time!
