Had to wait on parts for the chipper. The guy fixing it is a part retired mechanic who worked a bandit dealer forever. He really knows his shit but he doesn't move quick....
I ended up having the top feed wheel assembly replaced. Bottom feed wheel was replaced less than a year ago. Full service, new blades/hardware, everything adjusted, flipped anvil, crush cylinder repacked, last chance cables replaced, bunch of bearings replaced and a bunch of other small things. Clutch was recently redone by previous owner. Was about 6k of work with parts and labor. Lights and brakes work. Going to pull the wheels off to see what they look like, but the brakes do currently work. Tires are in good shape. Thinking of replacing all of the hydraulic lines just so I don't have to worry about it. Runs great has good engine has good compression, slows the motor right down when you idle down.
Doesn't look too bad, but it would look very nice if it got sandblasted. I am not going to get into that this year though.
Turns out it is a 1998. Had to do a bit of private eye work because I bought the chipper from NY and it didn't come with a title. Miraculously I was able to get a certificate of origin from Bandit. Still have to register it. Tried to register it previously in MA and they laughed at me....
Also, the autofeed was replaced at some point so the hours are not correct. Meter reads like 975. My guess would 2000-4000. Mechanic said at least 2000 hours.
Just bought a house and going into the slow season. Short on cheddar. I want to keep the chipper, but a box full of dough would be pretty nice to have right now. Don't need to sell it, but if someone wants to put 35k or close enough to it in my face I would part with it. I'll post pictures and a video when it's finally done. Located in central Massachusetts
