This shows my lanyard set up. Some subtle differences but really makes it very versatile and functional. I've had a couple people ask about it and found it just as easy to share it in a video.

2 in 1 lanyard

Nice setup and great demonstration. I've been running something very similar, basically using NE tech cord on the back end as a second prusik and a thimble loop on the front end as normal.
I was daisy chaining the back end for a while, and then found myself tying and untying the chain too often, so I ended up using a single butterfly a few feet from the tail. That eventually was replaced with the second prusik, for just the reason you displayed (advancing your TIP).
Running a SRT lanyard is a great way to use a shorter rope length, but the retrieval is the one thing keeping me from using it that way all the time...well, that and the fact that you can get much closer to a stem in a normal side D to side D setup.

Nice, Derrick...Any tips for how to keep that floating prusik from opening up and falling off your lanyard? I know some folks just loop it into the biner at the terminal end of their lanyard, but I use a snap just like yours, so that wouldn't work. Yours looks fairly snug around the rope...just wondering if you have any tricks to keep it that way...thanks.

opposablethumb, I have see some guys tie the loop with space between the fishermans. Then tie the prussik with that space as the bridge across the knot. On the last wrap they pass the end of the prussik between the two lines in between the fishermans and sinch down. I tried it once and it held great, but I didnt like it on my lanyard so took it off.

thanks FS & countryboypa...those ideas seem like they would work well...

my boss issued me a small stitched dyneema sling to serve this purpose, and it works great as a floating prusik. unfortunately, no dbl fisherman's to grab. maybe i'll just make my own.

cheers!
