I'll do the same thing some times, load the crane then pick the wood off at the shop. It saves us time when we lack enough drivers for the big equipment. Do love that crane work though.

It used to be hard finding someone with a CDL...now its tough to find people that can drive standards!!!The chip truck we're putting together has an Allison automatic in it.Sues working towards her CDL this winter.

Re: 100\' Pine Removal

Hey thanks kman. please do share when you get your latches on. My lid is removable but only via 20 or so bolts. I've been thinking of modifying with some latches, the Graingers look like the ticket!

Re: 100\' Pine Removal

Kman, My old boss at United Tree used to have a top just as you are speaking about. All he had was 1/2 inch round stock welded to the cover and drilled through the box, held on by pins. It never went any where just a little hard to line up some mornings. If you ever need a extra body for crane work give me a shout. Got the CDL and lots of sick and vacation time to use. The same goes for you Allmark,I would love to work with your new crane. Have a good holiday to all and stay safe. Jsin
