100 foot Euc ascent

Nice, but no speedline? Still kicking myself for not bringing my camera. Finished the other big one today. Dam i'm tired. Had to block some of that big topped lead down. Also pruned a large Ficus. Tommorrow...get up and do it again....and again..and again....

I was going to call this Propper pruning but its was sooooo borning to watch.I though the ascent was postworthy. At least a 100 footer. Eucalyptus trees are fun but can be really challenging to climb because they are slippery.
Thanks for the work Rocks N trees. I had a blast. Today I need rest today. I dont know how you guys do that EVERY day.

Even if you had named it 'Proper pruning' I would have preferred your video anyway. Keep up the good work and the great videos.

Nice ascent Jesse!

I can't imagine ascending in the desert heat like that.

Anyway, I'm not going to rip on ya, but can I share a step I take when I use double ascenders?

At 2:55 in the video you reach over to pull yourself into the crotch. As a safety precaution, I always lanyard in first, then pull myself over to the the crotch I need to stand in. With the ascenders snug against the targetd limb and the angle of pulling yourself over laterally, I have heard the cams can possibly slip open. I have never seen this, but I take that extra step, incase.

I hope this is helpful.

that is a neat video jesse. I think I saw a pantin on each foot. But at the end there you said that was a "long frog walk". Is that just a phrase, or the system. I am super interested in doing my ascents in the style you use, could you detail that a bit more. Also, did you use a running bowline to anchor? or anchored at the base?
thanks

sorry man. The tree we dropped....the speedline stuff...all gone. The world will never know the greatness that is us.

Thank you Jamin. I will definitly lanyard in 1st next time.
SRT still creeps me out and with the heat on top of that, I dont need to have any little accidents at that height.
Thanks again man.

Hey Chep, I only had one pantine. The other foot had a footstrap that went up to the handled ascender. I THINK its the frog walk set up. I have a croll as a back up. Its not perfect becaus Im using a Tree motion saddle not designed for SRT. Id love to try this with a sequoia or other SRT style saddle some day.
I used a running bowling because the 150 foot of CMI rope I had didnt even come close to being long enough to lower me if needed. I had to look at that bowline for a long long time before I sent it up. SRT is scary. It did serve as a rescue line in the tree after I set up my ddrt.

Nice Climb Jesse .. 100ft its a good climb .. I have some pic of some large Euc out in Catalina Island w/ Joe from treebuzz. He help me last yr w/ this monster of a tree .. This yr Iam going to try and get as many Tree Buzz climbers out to Catalina for a good climbing wkend .... I'll keep in touch.....

Later in SO-CAL Get some rest my friend , I'll be helping Sal this Friday on a AR training ..

Nice work Jesse!! That is one tall tree!

Nice SRT set-up by the way. Reminds me of another one I saw on youtube, I'll have to find it, but it was with a TM and set up similar to yours. I'm still tweaking mine and playing around with adding my new CMI ascender into the mix.

Keep the videos coming!

Nice! When I send up a running bowline for SRT I like to tie it with a long tail and back it up with a figure eight on the tail. It might be over kill but makes me feel better for thoes long climbs.

thanks for the reply jesse, so you have the croll on your chest. TMs dont have the chest option, so is just slinged together... or is it attached to the bridge of your saddle? could you just use a hitchcord set up on line instead of the croll?

I just attatch it to the main ring on the bridge with a biner through the bottom hole and I use a velcro elstic strap on the top hole which goes around my neck. Some people didnt like that idea but I have not hung myself yet.
I geuss a hitch would work. I have not done it. Anyone? Anyone?
