NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - A worker at the University of Oklahoma has been injured after a crane tipped over while working at the university president's home.

OU spokeswoman Catherine Bishop says workers from the OU Physical Plant were using a truck-mounted crane Wednesday to move a tree from the back of another truck when the crane tipped and crashed into the other truck.

She says the worker's injuries do not appear to be life threatening. His name wasn't immediately released.

OU President David Boren and his wife live in Boyd House on the north side of campus.

what seemed to be the problem with this? I hope the person injured heals quickly. Glad to hear everyone is OK. Waiting to hear more . Thanks for the pic. Be Safe!

It looks like there may have been an issue with the out-riggers. The stick is vertical and retracted, which would give the operator MAXIMUM lift potential. Not saying the boom may have gone vertical due to a pin or mount failure.

It seems a bit odd that the out-riggers haven't held the truck up off the ground, even while laying on its side. I wonder IF it was the operator who was injured, that would have been a heck of a ride from the seat into the bed of the other truck.

Sad to see, but I would like more information as to what caused this accident. I am not the type of person who likes to view these mishaps, BUT I find myself drawn to this Awakenings thread, in order to learn from others misfortunes.

I hope the injured guy recovers and shares the experience, so others don't have to learn the hard way!

i hope the operator attempted to pick up the load while it was in the other truck.

but i suspect he couldn't quite pick it up and slid it out of the bed of the truck. load was too heavy and it dropped to the ground.

just my initial thoughts of what likely happened.

then again, maybe there was a hole in the ground and an outrigger sank. doubtfull.
