1/2'xtc fire with 8mm bee line???

1/2\'xtc fire with 8mm bee line???

i have been climbing for a while on a 10mm beeline blakes hitch on 1/2" fire. i ordered a beeline eye to eye to start learning other climbing systems and i meant to get a 10mm but ended up with a 8mm, ive tried low and slow and havnt had problems, but thought id get some input from some seasoned pros. should i be using 10mm instead?

it's all personal preference. i personally climb on 8mm beeline 3 wrap distel with arbormaster BWR and use a micro mouse pully with the standing end in the top hole and the hitch biner clipped in the bottom hole and my saddle. works just as good as a hitch climber system and is cheaper.
10mm beeline is a good hitch cord but it is less grabby then 8mm. i prefer 10mm mostly for foot locking cords and stuff.

yeah dan, i use a SRT kit i bought from wesspur.com Cmi handled ascender, cmi foot ascender, some technora cord to back up the handled ascender and foot loop webbing. i freakin love it. once i switched to ascending with a rope walker system im never going back now. forget the yoyo/rads, rope walker is where it's at. i just need a longer 200 foot static line and im set :)

thanks. I probly dont have enough time climbing on the blakes hitch to be trying others but ive sampled the distel, schwabish and the v.t. low and slow in a tree out back and all of those hitchs seem to function properly,i like the fact that both ends of the split tail are tied in, and how the hitch is closer to my saddle. my only problem with the v.t. is the plastic wrap around the beeline splice seems too long and doesnt allow the last 1 1/2 - 2" to bend properly around the rope before attatching to the carabiner.

its just hard to get that last wrap cause of the plastic

maybe try a 5 wrap and 1 cross. One reason I don't use a spliced hitch cord...I haven't truely dialed in my perfect length...however I am getting close

I currently upped from a 8mm Ocean P to a 10mm Ocean P on poison ivy because:
1)I wanted to see how a bigger hitch felt like in the hand
2)I couldn't quite dial in the 8mm...it was either too tight or too lose.
3)10mm is stronger with 33 kN rating
