Anyone have experience replacing the flex pipe on the front pipe? Cummins 5.9 and it seems that ford doesn't want you to fix it, but rather replace the whole pipe for $600 list...havent been able to locate a suitable piece of flex to weld on...

I'm a little confused by the ''front pipe'' part but, exhaust flex pipe is easily obtainable at Napa auto parts stores.
It's also simple to remove and replace yourself. Usually just two pipe clamps and your golden.
If you don't have the time or ambition try a local ma & pa style muffler / exhaust shop.
It's relatively an easy fix and definitely not something I would bring to Ford. Good luck!

Normally yes...this ford setup is a little more involved. Doesnt seem like anyone makes the size flex it needs...almost like it was a proprietary part they had made for them. Front pipe is what they call rhe tail pipe in front of the muffler.

Are you talking about the ones at the back of the motor? For the v8 internatioal engines? Those are up pipes. They run off the manifolds and run to the turbo in the valley. You can get them at an International dealer or aftermarket. Dorman is an aftermarket supplier for those. @tc262 may have some more insight to this.

Cummins motor...pipe from turbo adapter to muffler, which is where the aftertreatment happens. Will check out dorman though...thanks

Those are usually called a down pipe. Most any diesel performance shop that does exhaust should be able to help you out.

Now the problem is time...ford dealer called it a front pipe...i always called them tailpipes...whatever...they always gotta be silly...hence this issue.

Update....after hours of searching...and a bit of good luck summit racing all of a sudden does sell a direct oem replacement minus the swivel for the "exhaust baffle" on an 08 f750...$130 fix including welding...even saved $9 by waiting a week to order it...part is made by ah exhaust i believe.
