I’ve not been on here in a long time but you are welcome to come hang out with me on the crane whenever you’d like. I love tree work and cranes, and love talking about them almost as much!
Best way to get me is on instagram, @jrainw
curious about cycle time for making picks, a little lite for a 54.5 kboom if it was a truck. Wondering if its made stable by being really slow kinda like the CMC lifts are compared to the heavier machines.
I run the 220 on our PK110. We also have a 280 at the yard but when the wood gets that big I go to slings and by losing the head gain 800# of capacity on the wood picks. Also cutting both sides then reaching up grabbing the top and breaking the snap cut is a good option for bigger wood if a...
If I don’t have a climber available you work the big wood like you would if you were in a bucket truck. Cut one side, let go, cut the other side (bypass a few inches above or below) the grab the top and snap the bypass. Easy peasy and eliminates brutal head roll that can’t be good for the machine.
20 yard box on the chip truck and it’s a definite limitation, we lose a guy pretty much all day to running and dumping chips. Just getting started on an Autocar 40 yard hooklift that should help.
Cut was made from a bucket truck, with practice the cut can be made without the piece moving, you swing out of the way and then lift the piece. Drone is a Mavic Pro
Took out a very large sycamore this week, 2.5 hours. Great setup helped, room for the bucket truck and crane right next to the tree, landing zone not too bad, ditch witch 1550 and bandit 1890 keep up perfectly. It’s really turned into a game of getting trucks dumped and back in action quick to...
TreeMek’s are the future. We are just a little ahead of the curve Steve. ;)
Seriously though, our setups are frequently very tight, and our pick size is determined by what we can land and process. I relate it to when I first got a bucket truck and just killed my ground crews, then I realized...
I’m really interested in the load cell, I too come from stick booms and the LED’s on the palfinger remote don’t give me enough feedback. I’m getting a “feel” for it but it’d sure be nice. The remote on the 110 gives digital % of both main and jib.
I’m @jrainw on instagram. I get a lot of pics/videos while working with @figureeightexperience. Not so many when I’m operating, it takes my full concentration.
That’s not me, but I’m learning a lot from him. He makes running a k boom look way easier than it really is. A very steep learning curve exists on these machines. I’m running the 33 and he runs the 110
